Langston Hughes Poetry from a Historical Perspective

Posted on Thursday 2 February 2012

Langston Hughes was an American poet who lived during the time of the Harlem Renaissance. When Langston Hughes was alive the Jim Crow laws were also in effect. This enabled him to write a lot of good poems about how he felt growing up during that time such as I, Too Sing, America and My People, which were both published in the 1950s. Hughes did not have a very good childhood. His father even disliked his own color. However, Langton Hughes loves people who are the same race as him, his peom My People shoes us that. Then in his peom I, Too Sing America he shows how everything is segregated. Both of these poems relate to Hughes childhood with his father.

Most of Langston Hughes poems themes are about race. Take for example, I, Too Sing, America and My People. Both of these poems were published in the 1950s. During this time the Jim Crow laws were still in effect so Langston surrounded a lot of his poetry about things that were going on during that time. For example in his poem I, Too Sing, America he opens up with “I, am the darker brother.” (Hughes, 2004, line 2) he then continues to go on and say that “They send me to eat in the kitchen when company comes.” (Hughes, 2004, lines 2 and 3) From this poem he is showing that whites and blacks are not supposed to eat in the same rooms. However, as his poem goes on he incorporates that one day everyone will see that each person is the same regardless of skin color and they will all unite. This was what the blacks hoped for back in those days.

In order for readers to be able to understand Langston’s poetry they have to have experiences being through some sort of struggle. Also they will have to know what went on during the time that he grew up in. It may even help to know a little bit about his background, such as what social status he grew up in.

In Langston Hughes poems he does a great job of illuminating the past for his readers. In his poem My People he enables the readers to see that the African Americans are beautiful. He states ” The night is beautiful so are the faces of my people” (Hughes, 2004, lines 1 and 2)By this statement readers can see that the night is beautiful but it is also the color of African Americans skin so their faces have to be beautiful as well.

Another theme that Hughes shows us is love. He shows us this through his poetry because he absolutely adores his race even though his father couldn’t stand people the same color as him. It may not have been to important in the twentieth century but Langston Hughes found this to be very important to him.

Simple Modifications to a Gym Favorite: The Reverse Grip Barbell Curl

Posted on Thursday 2 February 2012

The barbell curl is one of the most popular exercise in any fitness center. Walk in to a gym and you will find people of all shapes and sizes doing style for curly hair
barbell curls. While it is an effective movement for targeting the biceps, many people do not variate the way that they do this exercise and not maximize their growth potential in the upper and lower arm.

The bicep is a two-headed muscle, with an outer and inner head. Curls with closer and/or neutral grips will better target the outer head, but you can target the outer head even more by using a reverse grip. In addition, using a reverse grip will target the brachoradialis, the largest single muscle in the forearm.

To do a reverse grip barbell curl, follow these instructions:

1. Grasp a bar with a shoulder width grip but instead of facing your hands away from you, face them towards you (this is called a supinated grip).

2. Pull the bar off of the rack and step away. Make sure your foot stance is about shoulder width.

3. Keeping your elbows in and your shoulders back, begin curling your arms up while keeping your wrists straight.

4. Bring the bar as high as you possibly can without bringing your shoulders or elbows forward. All the work should be felt in the biceps and the forearms. Once you are as high as you can go, begin bringing the bar down.

5. Do not lock your elbows out in the bottom position to keep constant tension on the biceps and the forearms, instead begin your next rep.

6. Rack the bar after you have completed your set.

Tips:

To begin, do 4 sets of 12 reps twice a week.

Keep your back straight and your chin up, don’t use body momentum to get the bar moving.

Removing your thumbs can create more force in the forearms, but decrease the amount in the biceps.

Though Marti Hale McCoy portraying Clairee

Posted on Thursday 2 February 2012

Though Marti Hale McCoy portraying Clairee and Annelle respectively was both totally capable and able performers who were cast correctly, they unintentionally outshined the remainder of the cast. The reason for this was not intentional I am certain; however, the entirety of this difficulty falls on the shoulders of the programs director R. Benito Cardenas. This individual has apparently had a good deal of success in smaller programs over the past years, but was simply not ready for this size a production. Perhaps the film was not considered when looking at the buy backlinks script and the needs that it would demand, I am not certain? What I am certain of is that this cast has it within themselves to offer a great deal more than they were able to offer, had the director given all that the script requires.

With the countless of tropical paradise locations around the 7,107 islands that comprise the Philippine archipelago, it is not a surprise that many photos made for the campaign feature the beautiful beaches around the country. One of the popular beach photos that came out showcases the sunset at the in Bataan with the words describing it ‘End of days. More fun in the Philippines.’

Chances are that if you are planning a trip to you are not hoping for city and wall-to-wall people. Good thing because you will not get any of that in Goodyear. You will get quiet nights and you will encounter calm and relaxed people. My family had a wonderful time making Goodyear our home during our MLB Spring Training vacation. Here are some of the venues that made our trip great.

Well as much as

Posted on Wednesday 1 February 2012

Well, as much as this new reality is going to piss you off, consider the intrinsic value of anything, as it is worth whatever someone will pay for it, thus, supply and demand rule the day, and if more people ‘like’ it then the price goes up. but what if masses of online users purposely ‘dislike’ something to get the price lowered – by swarming in and voting something down? well, you can bet that such an occurrence is inevitable and coming to an online store near you.

2. target the hunger reflexmillions of years of evolution have made us focus on things which are scarce. when we had to spend most of our days hunting and gathering food in order to survive our brains learned to focus on scarcity. if food was scarce we became even more interested in it. deep within your head is a process which makes us really, really interested in anything scarce. in the past it meant the difference between survival and death. our hunger makes us buy backlinks interested in scarce things. so, if your website offers a plentiful supply of whatever it is you are selling, it becomes less interesting. if your website is selling your services and you are always available, people become less interested in you. scarcity increases interest. so, make sure your website includes some indication of scarcity of your resources or products; that way people instinctively become more interested in your site.

Users have been complaining about phishing scams for several years, but lately, the onslaught has become so acute that big name computer companies are finding that need to do something or possibly face loss of confidence in online systems, which would of course be devastating to both the computer industry and those that do business online.

Backlinks are the inbound

Posted on Wednesday 1 February 2012

Back-links are the inbound links to your website or web pages from other websites, blogs or from any other internet source. in my point of view, these back-links do a lot of good stuff for your website. if you have enough back-links or simply links to your website on some good websites and blogs, search engines would feel good about your website and assume that it’s a famous website. now here is a condition, your back-links must be placed on the web pages which are indexed almost daily by google and other search engines. we call such links as quality links. it’s very important that you emphasize of quality rather than quality. article submissions, blog posts, forum commenting are all various ways of baklinking.

It is a fact that a notable number of fantastic baits have failed as commercial products either because they simply have been too costly to produce and sell to actually keep on making a profit, or were simply not perceived as successful carp baits by the buying public! just one example comes from the very early eighties when i was exploiting a host of unusual readymade ground baits within my homemade boilie recipes. i would try anything unusual so that my baits had a new edge and so i was used to taking calculated risks with my baits and leaned on my experience of doing this since beginning carp fishing and making special paste baits when a young boy.

A lot of websites have links within their content, and when it’s clicked will lead back to another webpage. a big reason why websites link to other sites is because the information on the webpage they’re linking to is of extreme interest to a large number of people.

Allow me to share with you the advantages of using a mobile phone application to market your events and classes.

This isn’t all; there are many other techniques as well. if you manage to promote your website with proper backlink service advertising along with , you will rule the search engines. in any case, seo services which you will be using will not show results right away, you will not see any results even after a couple of weeks; it’s a game of patience. on average, you will see proper results after 3 to 6 months. remember, consistency is the key to success in seo services.

Bulawayo gets little mention in tour guides for Zimbabwe, with places like Great Zimbabwe and Victoria Falls taking pride of place. Despite this, along with decades of neglect from the central government in Harare, it offers some hidden jewels for visitors.

Another famous name linked to the lake district is william wordsworth. he was a major english romantic poet who was born in 1770 in cockermouth and lived at dove cottage from 1799 to 1808. it was at dove cottage where he wrote his greatest work. he is now buried with his wife, mother and sister in st. oswaldâ´s churchyard in grasmere. today you can visit the dove cottage and the wordsworth museum & art gallery and get a real insight into how he worked and where he got his ideas from.

Posted on Tuesday 31 January 2012

San Francisco is a lively town full of fun and oddly spectacular activities and attractions. With a largely artistic population, San Francisco offers a very eclectic atmosphere which is promoted by its quirky events and activities. Visiting San Francisco can be an extremely diverse experience with unusual activities to engage in. Here are 5 quirky activities to enjoy while in San Francisco.

Castro’s Halloween Parade is a local San Francisco event unlike any other that you have probably encountered. It is complete with men in Carnival regalia, 19th century madams, pharaohs and slaves along with powdered wigs and other wild costumes. This is an event that the mixed gay/straight crowd all love. There are as many as 300,000 people in attendance during some years. The parade is held in the Castro district and starts at 6:30pm on the Saturday closest to Halloween.

Take a drive down Lombard Street in San Francisco. This is dubbed as the windiest street in the world. The street lasts for one block and is known for its hairpin turns. I would not recommend experiencing this street in a large SUV because the turns are so sharp and the street is on a hill, like most streets in San Francisco are. This is an activity that can be experienced at any time day or night.

The San Francisco Ripley’s Believe it or Not museum is a very unusual attraction in San Francisco. It is the home to displays such as the Weird Art display which features weird and wacky art from around the globe. General admission prices are $16.99 and children under 13 years old are at $9.99. The museum is located at 175 Jefferson Street in San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf area. Be prepared to be toyota Repair san antonio, lexus repair san antonio, honda repair san antonio, acura repair san antonio, infinity repair san antonio, mazda repair san antonio, toyota repair, honda repair, acura repair amazed at this museum. It is not your average museum.

The Wave Organ is an unusual display of music made from the ocean waves emitting sounds. There are PVC tubes installed at various elevations and the rise and fall of the tides affect the sounds that are heard. You can put your ear up to any one of the tubes that stick out of the ground and hear music. This is best heard at high tide. This free display is located at the end of the jetty that forms the small boat harbor in the marina district of San Francisco.

A visit to the Musee Mecanique, which is located at Pier 45 in Fisherman’s Wharf area of San Francisco, will amaze you. This museum has an unusual collection of more than 300 mechanical items which are considered antiques. This is a fun house of sort that has items such as antique arcade games to a hand cranked music boxes. Prepared to be wowed while some of these items can take you down memory lane. This is definitely an unusual but nostalgic museum and it is a must see while in San Francisco.
